In this post, we'll show you step-by-step how to create this crowd-pleasing dish using thinly sliced chicken breast marinated in soy sauce and cornstarch for ultimate tenderness. Ingredients:

Chicken breast, thinly sliced - 500g

Soy Sauce - 1 tbsp

Corn Starch - 1 tbsp

Sesame Oil - 1 tbsp

Bell Peppers - 135g

Onion - 100g

Cooking Oil - 2.5 tbsp

BLACK PEPPER SAUCE

Chicken Stock – ½ cup

Soy Sauce - 2 tbsp

Dark Soy Sauce - 1 tbsp

Shaoxing Wine – 1 tbsp (optional)

Sugar – ½ tbsp

Freshly cracked black pepper – 1 ½  tbsp (or more)

Corn Starch – 1 tbsp

Black Pepper Chicken, at home in just under 20 minutes! This easy and delicious recipe requires only basic ingredients and a single wok, making it perfect for any busy day without the hassle of washing up afterwards.

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken with soy sauce (1 tbsp) and cornstarch (1 tbsp)

  2. Pour some sesame oil (1 tbsp) to coat the chicken, then leave it aside for a few minutes.

  3. Slice some bell peppers (135g) and one onion (100g)

  4. Prepare the Black Pepper Stir-fry sauce with chicken stock (1/2 cup), soy sauce (2 tbsp), dark soy sauce (1 tbsp), Shaoxing wine (1 tbsp / optional), sugar (1/2 tbsp), freshly cracked black pepper (1 1/2 tbsp or more!) and some corn starch (1 tbsp)

  5. Heat a wok on stove, and add 2 tbsp of oil

  6. Add chicken when oil is hot, and spread the chicken pieces in the wok to increase surface contact with the wok.

  7. Fry chicken for 2 minutes while stirring

  8. Add bell peppers (135g) and onions (100g), and stir-fry on high heat for 1 minute.

  9. Then take the ingredients out of the wok and set aside

  10. Add more oil (1/2 tbsp) to the work, and sauté minced garlic (4 cloves) and grated ginger (1 tsp) for 1 minute

  11. Then pour the stir-fry sauce into the wok

  12. Stir and simmer until the sauce thickens

  13. Then add the chicken (with bell peppers and onions) back into the wok and stir for 30 seconds

  14. And, we’re done! Enjoy!
